Babacar Sene

Babacar is a recognized expert in the field of food safety. Throughout his career he has advised private companies and public sector organizations from across the African continent. He has advised and assisted in development of policies and strategies, consulted and facilitated planning, led food safety and quality audits, undertaken feasibility studies and authored scientific publications. He has also worked on best practice guides, food safety management manual development guides, standardization, regulation and led capacity building programs at national and regional levels.

Babacar has extensive experience working with small and medium-sized food companies. From May 2021 to March 2024, he worked at FES/Senegal as Senior food safety specialist on the Business Drivers for Food Safety program. Babacar is regularly called upon to teach, chair and facilitate discussions, workshops and meetings on food safety matters.

Babacar is a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine and he also holds three master's degrees in Business Administration, Total Quality Management, and Dietary Nutrition. He is certified IRCA Lead Auditor ISO 22000/Food Safety Management Systems.

Babacar founded and currently heads the firm Agro Consulting & Training SARL and serves as FES’ representative in West Africa providing technical and operational support throughout the continent.
