Rokhaya Diop
BD4FS Senegal Food Safety Coordinator
Rokhaya Diop is enthusiastic about agrifood, a profession she chose to pursue at Université Gaston Berge (Saint-Louis, Senegal). She graduated with a professional degree in Agronomic Sciences/Option: Agrifood Technology in 2016 and a Master's in Prevention and Management of Food Safety Risks in 2019. Highly involved in research and development, Rokhaya Diop developed a HACCP plan to produce smoked captain at the Fish products workshop of the Food Technology Institute (ITA) to obtain her license. She was also continually active in the Support and collaboration program between women in the private agricultural sector (SME) of Saint-Louis, Gaston Berger University (PAAR/SL) initiated as part of the Education Research in Agriculture (ERA/USAID) project during which she assisted small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in implementing prerequisite programs. In addition, as part of Péri-Péri U, a partnership of African universities set up in 2006 to strengthen disaster risk reduction capacities at the local level, Rokhaya conducted studies on vulnerability and resilience strategies for farms in northern Senegal between 2019 and 2020 before joining Food Enterprise Solutions (FES) as Food Safety Coordinator.
